30th September

Each year Mrs. Pheloung, one of our talented Reading Recovery teachers, records the progress of children who have turned 6. We currently have 70% of our children, as they turn 6, reading at or above the National Standard. This is a result to be really proud of especially as the National Standards are aspirational rather than showing the achievement of an average child. Since we started keeping Reading Recovery records in 2005 there has been a 33% increase in the number of children reading at the National Standard or above. I wanted to congratulate our Reading Recovery teachers (Jill Pheloung, Cathy McGeady and Helen Harrison) and to thank our parents who are encouraging the children with reading mileage at home. Together we are making a real difference to our children and setting them up for success.
