This year Katikati Primary School sent a team of around 20 students to Fresh Moves at Baycourt Theatre. We got an award for best stage presence. All of the students that came really enjoyed performing on a big stage in front of an even bigger audience. The costumes were great and it was really helpful that most of the kids brought their own black clothes to wear.
Also many thanks to Tim for introducing our dance. Tim from Kamai Pod said before he went on stage he was nervous, excited and scared. But when he went on he really enjoyed it.
The theme this year was BECAUSE and we decided to base our dance on because we know how our brains work. So our dance started with all of these brain cells, we had little LED lights on our fingers that looked really cool in the dark. We showed in our dance how your brain learns new things. Throughout the rest of the dance we showed that our brain was learning and we all had our own little ways of showing it. At the end of the performance we formed a brain again, everyone with LED lights turned them back on again while we did our brain movements, then everyone fell to the floor.
Also many thanks to Mrs McKeown and Mrs Guardian for helping us put our dance together, also to all of the parents that helped with transport. Thank you again, Tim, for helping us on the night. A very big thank you to Mrs Taylor for helping with getting our hair ready.
