Anzac Day
For the past term Room 16 have been learning about Anzac day. First we made Anzac biscuits. We learnt that the soldiers got sent Anzac biscuits from their family and friends because they were made without eggs so they wouldn’t go off.The biscuits we made turned out great and we took them home to eat.

The next thing we did for Anzac day was collect information from books in order to make posters with the information. We learnt about Anzac poppies, symbols and some interesting facts like 81,700 French and British soldiers died but German losses were far greater with 220,00 men killed in action. Did you know that the acronym for Anzac is Australia New Zealand Army Corp?
Mosaic art
For our mosaic art Miss Taylor printed out some pictures which were on the mural like oranges, pukeko, blue duck, kereru and tui. We picked one of the pictures and started to rip up pieces of magazines to get the colours that we needed. We had to try and get the pieces as small as we could. Next we glued the pieces together to make our mosaic art.

Koru Art
It is called koru art because we had to do the whole thing based on koru patterns.
First we planned our design on a white sheet of paper and once we showed it to the teacher for approval she gave us a back sheet of paper. We were only allowed to use light coloured pastels otherwise it wouldn’t show up on the black piece of paper.
