Our Vision

We are preparing our children for a diverse and exciting future. Literacy and numeracy are essential skills which underpin the wider curriculum and unlock opportunities for children. As such they will always be our major priority. In addition to these skills however, we want to present our children with a broad range of opportunities. We want to enable our children to become problem solvers and effective communicators, who are self-confident and equipped to thrive in their adult lives. In order to achieve this we believe classroom programmes need to be personalised with rigorous tuition based upon snapshot assessments and inquiring into practice. We believe that utilising teachers’ strengths, knowledge and expertise in a collaborative manner best enables us to target children’s individual needs. Student ownership of learning will be developed as the children move through the school and diverse experiences will be used to engage the children in their learning. At all times there will be a focus on Hauora, on developing the whole child, this will include a focus on cultural pedagogies because recognition of language, culture and identity within the school setting impacts children’s achievement.
