Principal's Welcome

Welcome to Katikati Primary School, a vibrant and energetic learning community. At KKPS we strive for happy, engaged self-motivated learners who are able to take ownership of their own learning. We are a friendly school where teachers are always available for you to catch up with and where all of our staff members are focussed on the children’s welfare, as well as their learning. Cultural pedagogies are important to us as we have children of almost 20 different nationalities attend our school. We are committed to fostering bicultural partnerships with our Maori community and offer both a Te Reo immersion unit (Te Whare Putake) and a kaupapa class.

We welcome parents taking an active part in the life of the school whether it be by joining the Parents Of The School (POTS) group, taking part in our volunteer reading programme, attending camps or coaching sports teams. We recognise the important part that parents play in their child’s learning, so we have a number of programmes available to parents like the Best Start Programme (which informs parents how they can help to prepare their child for school); the Reading Together Programme (providing a range of strategies to make reading at home an enjoyable experience for both the parent and the child) and the Maths Together Programme (showing parents how to support their child at home with maths). We are future focussed developing with the children the skills and attributes they are going to need as adults. We encourage them to be problem solvers, to collaborate with others, to be prepared to take risks with their learning and to be actively involved in a diverse range of experiences. We use ICT as a tool to engage the children, develop problem solving skills and share what’s happening at school with parents.

We are very proud of our children, whanau and community. Visits to the school are always welcome. We hope to meet you in the near future.

Ngā mihi
